The Weight Lost Yo-Yo

Have you said this over and over again. Have you noticed that this is a vicious cycle that many people fall into. It’s called the yo-yo effect. It’s one of the mny obstacles that interfere with keeping weight off. Many people go on the, “Lose Fat Quick” diets and then end up regaining even more weight than they lost.

The reason for this is you should never go on fad diets. Fad diets set up up for failure down the line. In addition to this, it is not healthy to drop pounds so quickly, because this upsets the balance in your body.

When a person goes about losing pounds in this manner, they are just losing water and muscle first and then a few pounds of fat next. By the time you do start losing fat, you have literally starved yourself and begin to unwittingly start eating more calories.

As your body receives these increased calories, it begins to immediately store them as fat, because it believes you were going through a startvation period and it wants to be more prepared, by having more fat storage in order to survive the next time.

The body is always striving for what is called homeostasis (the body’s unique ability to regulate its internal physiology with the mission to maintain stability in response to fluctuations in the outside environment).

Whenever you consciously try to alter this, you engage in a battle with your body and the body tries all types of ways to win the battle.

Weight should be lost in small increments, in order to fool the body into thinking everything is normal and stable. When the time comes and the body realizes that things are changing a little, it tries again to stop it.

At this point you reach what is called a plateau (you stop losing weight and start stabilizing). When you get to this point, all you have to do is alter what you were doing before you hit the plateau.

You can decrease calories a little and/or increase exercise.

The key to losing weight and keeping it off is constantly changing what you do, staying aware of your calories and incorporating exercise in your daily routine.

Cancer and Weight-The Link We Never Think About

Your Health is compromised by the excessive weight that you carry. This should be one of the prime concerns a person has when they are dissatisfied with being out of shape.

In a number of articles on this site, we explored the links between diabetes and weight. Learning how to eat and when to eat teaches the ways to control your diabetes and keep you from causing more health problems.

Cancer and your weight touches upon the same health subjects. As we stated earlier people do not link the two together, but there has been scientific test to say that there is a correlation between being over weight and certain types of cancer.

This affects both the male and female population, although scientific study has increased the link between the two as being slightly higher in women.

When you carry an excess amount of body fat, it can directly affect cancer and cancer mortality in a huge number of ways.

Excess fat increases the amount of estrogen in a persons blood, which increases the risk of cancers of the female reproductive system.

Excess fat also increases the levels of insulin, causing the body to manufacture a hormone which causes cells to multiply.

It also heightens the risk of acid reflux, this in turn could lead to cancer of the esophagus.

Men and Women Cancer Risks

Women who are obese have a harder time feeling lumps in their breast due to the fat, and breast cancer is one of the most common cancer that occurs.

In Men the most prevalent occurrences of this disease was found to be in the stomach and the prostrate.

This disease is one of the top diseases and health concerns, along with heart attacks and strokes, in mortality causes.

There are many reasons to lose weight, and the health risks caused by obesity should be the number one on the list. Diabetes, Cancer, are two reasons for fat loss and controlling your weight.

There are no good things we can link with being over weight, except the positive actions of getting into shape.
