There are many emotional eating habits that mold you for weight loss needs.
Learn to Control Emotional Eating-eating out of anger,
Many people overeat because of emotional eating. There are many reasons why people turn to junk food and most of the time it is because of certain feelings rather than hunger pangs. There are five emotional cues that are usually at fault for emotional eating. These include anger, hopelessness, lack of control, feeling unappreciated, and boredom.
Anger-I’m Mad So I Eat Too Much
Anger is an emotional eating cue for people who stifle their feelings rather than releasing them. So, when they are angry they choose to deal with their anger through stuffing their face rather than actually confronting the situation. If this is one of the reasons you overeat you need to learn how to confront your anger so it will not wreck your waistline.
Hopelessness-Might As Well Stuff My Self With Food
Some people feel hopeless about their life and their situation. They don’t think anything will ever really change, so what is the point in trying to? If they are overweight they assume they will always be so eating a whole cake or batch of cookies won’t change things. Plus, many people feel that eating this way makes them happy. The problem is it only makes you feel better for a moment and it will eventually make you feel guilty.
Lack of Control-I’m The Boss Of My Stomach And Fat Belly
Those who feel their life is completely out of their control sometimes choose to eat in order to be in control. Since they make the food choices they feel like it is something they can be in control of and want to control. The problem is they choose foods that are fattening and have no nutritional value rather than healthy foods.
Feeling Unappreciated
If you are successful in some areas of your life, but you don’t feel like you are being appreciated for your success, then you may feel like you deserve to celebrate with food to reward yourself. A cookie might be okay, but an entire batch is not!
Boredom-Nothing To Do So I Might As Well Eat
When you are bored you want to do something yet there is nothing to do. Nothing other than eat, that is. If you eat when you are bored then you need to think of some other activities that will help you keep yourself occupied.
Where Do You Fit In The World Of Over Eating
If you fit into one or more of these profiles it is time to take action. Find ways to handle your boredom, anger, lack of control, and the like, by other means. It will mean you become a healthier person physically and mentally and that is a major plus!
