Lose Weight by Counting Calories

Counting calories are important to your diet plans.

It is hard to lose weight for several reasons.

First of all, your body just wants to hold on to all of that fat. Therefore, as soon as you begin dieting your body may respond at first and then stall out because it is worried of being starved. There is a great way to lose weight, though, that if you follow it you will experience excellent results. This is by counting calories.

You can easily determine how many calories your body needs on a daily basis to maintain your current weight or to lose one pound, two pounds, or whatever amount of weight you want to lose in a week. There are many online calculators that will do the calculations for you. Simply use your current weight and how many pounds you want to lose in a week. Then, the calculator will tell you how many calories to eat per day.

For example, if you weigh 185 pounds and you want to lose four pounds per week you can eat almost 800 calories per day to stay on that weight loss schedule. If you think this sounds like very little food, you are right. So, you may consider upping your weight loss goal to two pounds per week, which is healthier.

In addition, if you want to eat more, but still lose a lot of weight, you will need to exercise. It is incredibly important to exercise as often as possible so you burn calories. Not only does exercising allow you to eat more on a daily basis because you are burning it off, it always ramps up your metabolism.

When you exercise, you build and tone muscle. Doing this allows you to burn more calories when you are not exercising and helps keep your metabolism up and running. As you can see, counting calories to lose weight is beneficial because it keeps you responsible to a daily amount of calories and it works because you end up losing weight!

Personally I hate counting calories because it just takes up so much time to do, but the things I have discovered about my diet by recording not only calories but also fat contents have often surprised me – foods I assumed were healthy turned out not to be, and some “bad” foods weren’t actually as bad as I thought. Only by doing the number crunching do you realise these things…

I use to say (and say and say) I would never count calories but when I started I was glad I did. I had no idea the impact the unchecked calories had.

Knowing about calories also made me aware and knowledgeable about the trickery used in food labeling.

It was not hard at all because once you get the idea down you can expertly guesstimate and that will always keep you on target.

Swiming worked wonders for me. 5 hours of swiming each week worked like crazy and I went to having muscle in under a month.

That’s great Paul, swimming is indeed a low impact exercise that many people use to speed up the metabolism and burn calories. It is not to stressful on the body and it is a great relaxation sport as well.
