To The Parents of Over Weight Kids and Teens

Definition of Childhood Obesity-childhood obesity is often defined as a weight-for-height in excess of 120 percent of the ideal weight

Overweight Kids have the tendency to become Fat Teens and then Obese Adults.

This is a ugly cycle that must be destroyed.

This responsibility falls on the parents of these poor and neglected kids. When you allow your child to become overweight you are setting them up for a life of ridicule and low self esteem. They become the subject of jokes at a age so early, that they don’t have any type of mental defense mechanisms to soften the blows. An obese adult can barely handle the onslaught of humiliation, that they have to undergo daily from a less than accepting society.

Some social workers have stated that when parents allow their kids to become overweight, that they are guilty of child abuse because they have put the child’s welfare at risk.

These kids (and some of them are already classified as obese) are more prone to health conditions such as diabetes, blood pressure problems and sleep apnea to name a few. Obese kids also suffer from poor iron deficiency.

The percentage of overweight children in the United States is growing at an alarming rate — 1 out of 3 kids are now considered overweight or obese. (fat statistics from http://kidshealth.org

One motivational factor for obese adults to engage in weight loss, should be for the sake of their offspring’s. Kids of obese parents have an increased likelihood to become obese adults.

Peer Group Pressure for pimples on a teens face should be enough to deal with.

Save your child’s emotional well being and if you are out of shape get in shape for your kids as well as yourself.

I hope this wakes up more than a few parents about what they feed their kids.

I hope it does too. We as parents are suppose to guide our kids and that is a responsibility that must be catered too.
Our Kids are becoming more pre-obese with each unchallenged bite.

I know, I was shocked when my neighbors had a cute little girl but thought that she had to eat donuts and mac n cheese everyday. The greasier the food was, the “better” it is for her. My hubby and I tried to tell them different, but failed miserably. Now the girl isn’t so little. The parents let her stay in her room all day with no excersize. It astounds me as a parent myself. They though think it is okay as long as she is getting the fats she needs for brain development. (They are giving her the wrong fats!)

It truly is Wendy.

It’s frightening what some people do to their kids without knowing. It’s unconscious child abuse and what makes it worse is it comes from loving but not-knowing parents.

A little search for information in these areas would help greatly.

Amost everyone wants to have kids but fewer and fewer are doing a good job of parenting them. The most important thing to know about kids is that they do what we adults do and not what we say.

If parents haven’t a clue about what good nutrition is and how exercise and nutrition work together to insure a healthy body weight then telling the kids not to eat this or that or to get outside and play will not turn things around.

Their kids will see them eating excessive amounts of all the wrong foods and vegetating in front of the TV rather than exercising and they will follow suit. There are no shortcuts to being a good parent. Do as you would have your children do is the name of the game.

Chocolate can be good for you it\’s high in antioxidants if you choose the dark chocolate that is unprocessed because it is also low in sugar and fat and suitable for diabetics. It\’s supposed to be very good for cholesterol as well. Just make sure it is part of a balanced diet and you exercise!

I’m sure this will make a lot of chocolate lovers real happy. In fact many things that we love can be eaten as long as moderation is applied. When we learn how to eat and learn about calories in and out we prevent many of the weight traps we could fall into.

OMG! Look at these obese kids.. Not to offend, but they should be disciplined and be controlled of their eating habits. They will end up depressed and unhealthy. Parents should have to work on something about it before its too late.
