
It’s not a Diet, It’s a Lifestyle Change
You have tried every diet out there from Atkins to South Beach and The Zone to Jenny Craig. You do lose weight with each diet however you eventually gain all of the weight back when you return to your regular eating ways. What can you do to stop gaining and losing weight in this yo-yo fashion? The answer is to not go on a particular diet for a couple of weeks or months, but rather to change the way you eat altogether. This means you must change your lifestyle so that you are eating healthy all the time and only splurging every once and awhile. There are some things you can do to help you change your lifestyle, lose weight, and live a healthy life.
Substitutions
Are you used to eating pizza every weekend? If so, you will need to make a healthy substitution so that you can still get your pizza fix but without all of the grease and fat. One good way is to order your pizza with a thin whole wheat crust. Then, order low fat mozzarella cheese and just get lots of veggies as toppings. You will make your pizza healthy, yummy, and you won’t be changing your comfort food too much! The same goes for sugar. If you love ice cream you need to substitute a no sugar added ice cream to your diet. And, instead of having ice cream after dinner every night simply eat ice cream on weekends. These are substitutions that allow you to eat what you like with a few changes.
Exercise
This is real simple but very very important to Weight Loss and Dieting Success!
Any new lifestyle should include exercise. You can’t expect to lose weight and keep it off if you don’t exercise. The best idea is to exercise at least three days a week, but more is always good. When you exercise you will feel good, burn calories, and do your body good!
Weight Management
When you make these changes in your life and stick with them then you will be able to manage your weight. This is something you were never able to do before however now you will be able to maintain a constant weight by eating healthy foods, working out, and maintaining these healthy habits long term.
Now that you realize you need to do more than just go on a fad diet for a couple of weeks you are prepared to make the lifestyle changes necessary to lose weight and feel great. Remember, too, when you make a lifestyle change you don’t have to eliminate anything from your diet.
Instead, you must eat these foods sparingly. You can still enjoy your favorites, just not every day. When you do these things you feel better because fat causing emotional stress makes you unable to deal with even the simplest of problems.
